A spoonful of apple juice helps the medicine go down...

Greetings!

Wow!  A crazy little week that we had here at Team Lysne.  Elsa and Jonas did a great job at a photo shoot for an upcoming fundraiser campaign for the NICU.  It was very cool and the kids did a great job of playing and smiling.  When we got home, Elsa went from great to incredibly sick in about an hour.  Her fever spiked and she needed to go into the emergency room.  After a quick trip (it was only a couple of hours), she was home with some medicine and instruction to see the doctor the next day.  The doctor at the next appointment gave her a couple of shots and sent her home with a round of antibiotics.  Within a day she was back to normal energy levels, with some extra long naps to help her recharge her batteries.

Dan's birthday was this weekend so we celebrated with a delicious homemade cake prepared by Elsa, Jonas and Mari.  The video is a celebration shot of Jonas and Elsa enjoying their hard work.

We all played a lot this week and practiced our dancing.  Elsa and Jonas love to spin so we made sure that all the dancing ends with us all falling down from spinning so much!  Great times!!!

God Bless,
Mari & Dan & Elsa & Jonas

Greetings!
What a great week! Jonas and Elsa just got home from a photo shoot supporting the hospital where the NICU and ICU are located.  They had a great time playing and getting their pictures taken for an upcoming promotional campaign.  We celebrated with pancakes, bacon, and cake-pops!  Jonas broke out into song and Elsa kind of joined in.  To be fair, Elsa has a cold and immediately went to bed after the video.

We had a great week of playing and singing around the house.  Jonas and Elsa have started to play family.  One of them will get into a baby stroller while the other pushes them around the house.  They then "drop" them off at school and the "baby" will reach out his/her arms and ask for a hug.  We will catch this on video...it is our goal.  It is adorable.

Thank you for supporting our March for Babies fundraiser!  We appreciate your support!!!

God Bless,
Mari & Dan & Elsa & Jonas

Happy Mother's Day!

Greetings!
Jonas and Elsa celebrated Mother's Day this year with their grandmas and of course Mari.  Dan had Mari's gift arrive via the mail a couple of days before and all was good until Jonas saw the package.  Dan quickly shushed Jonas and told him it was a surprise for mommy.  Jonas pledged a vow of secrecy and the took the package and ran and gave the surprise to Mari!  We will work on this for next year.

We had a week of near summer weather and Elsa and Jonas loved being outside playing.  We are all working on our farmer's tans.

This weekend is our march for babies.  If you are interested in donating check out our previous post.

God bless,
Mari and Dan and Elsa and Jonas

March for Babies

Greetings!

We are walking this year in the March for Babies.  I am going to post this on facebook so I am going to give a little back-story here that regular visitors already know:)...We are walking this year because the march of dimes makes a difference in the lives of babies and families.  Our own story started when Jonas and Elsa were born four months premature.  They both weighed about the same as four sticks of butter.  Elsa was closer to three.  Over the next five months, our kids took two steps forward and one step back on a regular basis as they gradually gained weight and moved from the N.I.C.U. to the I.C.U to H.O.M.E.  During our marathon, we were heart-broken when babies next to Jonas and Elsa died, we rode the wave of uncertainty with various diagnosis for Jonas and Elsa, and we prayed for healing.  We sometimes look back on the blog and are amazed at what we experienced and ever so thankful for the amazing care our entire family received.  We walk for Jonas and Elsa and for all the other babies born premature...we support March of Dimes and hope to one day hear that NICU's are no longer needed because prematurity no longer happens.

If you are interested in supporting our walk please visit our March of Dimes family page.  No pressure...if you already have another charity you support...please keep supporting it!  There are so many great causes...this is the one for us!

The weeks start to fly by in spring!  Jonas and Elsa have been busy!  They are learning tons each day at school and amaze us with their vocabulary and letter awareness!

God Bless,
Mari & Dan & Elsa & Jonas
